The breakdown of the 2015 Budget is becoming a holy grail of
some sort. For some reason it is yet to e published officially over two weeks
after it was presented to the National Assembly.
Let’s just assume it is the
holiday that is slowing things down. However, some newspapers have been laying
their hands on some aspects of the budget. The Punch reports that the
government is looking at spending N815.4million on purchase of fuel and
lubricants for cars generators for the presidency, office of the Secretary
General of the Federation and their Parastatals. Whilst further details such as
how many cars need to be fueled, generators etc. the figure is quite huge on
paper and once again highlights the sincerity of the government in their plans
to reduce recurrent expenditure. The amount whilst lower than 2014 budget by 7%
is still a huge outlay.
